St Peter & St James Hospice

Our hospice provides specialist care to people who are terminally ill. We help patients live as well as possible with their illness and support families to cope in difficult times.

Founded 1975

  • Mission statement

St Peter & St James Hospice provides specialist, end-of-life care to the communities of Mid-Sussex.

We hope to make a positive difference to the experience of everybody in our community who faces death or bereavement by offering choice and support through our expert care, knowledge and understanding.

We support our patients, and the people who are important to our patients, to live well towards the end of life by giving compassion, hope and quality care.

Our services include: inpatient care in our twenty-three bed unit, community care for patients who we support in their own homes; and a range of wellbeing services.

The care we provide aims to meet the unique clinical and therapeutic needs of every individual patient. This care is provided for days, weeks or months, as needed.

We also provide practical and emotional support services to the families and carers of our patients.

Our care is delivered by an expert team of health and wellbeing professionals who are passionate about caring for people with advanced, life-limiting illness and helping their families to cope.

  • Aims

    • help our patients’ families as they cope with the changes in their lives through counselling, advice and support on practical care and financial matters and through the provision of spiritual care.
    • work with our supporters to ensure the hospice is here to meet the future need for compassionate end-of-life care in our community by raising the £2.6 million we need to deliver our service each year.
