Mission statement
INSP's mission is "to alleviate poverty and homelessness by supporting street papers around the world to be more sustainable and effective. "
Street papers, like the UK’s Big Issue, exist to tackle homelessness and poverty. They operate on a social enterprise and self-help model with homeless vendors buying copies at half the cover price and selling them on to earn an income. Street papers are also a much-needed reliable source of independent media, with a combined readership of over six million (per edition).
INSP is a UK-based charity, which supports the global street paper network of over 120 street papers in 40 countries. We also help start up new street papers. We help street papers to grow and develop into strong sustainable social businesses by providing support, such as training, resources and editorial support.
Since INSP was established in 1994, our street papers have provided over 250,000 homeless people with a means to work and earn a living, whilst reporting on social justice issues and informing readers. -
