The Abbeyfield Reading Society

The Abbeyfield Reading Society is part of the national Abbeyfield Society which is a non-profit organisation dedicated to making the lives of older people easier and more fulfilling.

Founded 1996

  • Mission statement

Abbeyfield House is a purpose built Residential Care Home for 28 elderly residents which opened in Reading in July 1996. We are a member of the national Abbeyfield Society, but remain an independent charity, the Abbeyfield (Reading) Society, set up to provide care and companionship within a delightful conservation area in central Reading. Staff provide 24 hour residential care for residents, and all en-suite bedrooms have their own TV and telephone points, together with a call system that keeps residents in touch with staff at all times. The Society's Executive Committee comprises volunteers many of whom have been involved with the home since its early planning days.
