Eva Women's Aid
Eva Women's Aid
We own 3 properties which provide accomodation for those in need. We have professional surgeries, a drop in facility at our High Street premises and deliver nationally accredited programmes as well as our own bespoke programme. EVA has an IDVA (Indepenent Domestic Violence Advocate ) service. EVA operates a full counselling service which includes Children and Young people and Women.
Eva exists to stop violence against women and children by supporting them to speak out from places of safety. Refuge accomodation provides women with safe crisis accomodation to recover from the violence and abuse usually at the hands of their male partner /father. Our awareness raising, training and counselling support women on therir personal journey to safety.
We have managed a refuge since 1989, with an converted house with 8 family rooms with shared toilets and bathrooms.
Children are the hidden victims of domestic abuse: we help them understand the violence and that it is not their fault through one to one support, group work with other children with similar experiences.
Advocacy is the key to unlock the legal system, to bring justice to survivors and to hold perpetrators accountable for their behaviour.
Eva is campaigning for funds to build a unique healing and advocacy centre for women and children traumatised by violence and is needing to raise £2. 5million pounds. The centre will be in the north east of England and serve the urban and rural communities of Redcar and Cleveland.
Attitudes here are traditionally embedded in the ex patriarchal steel and chemical industrial cultures. The women and children will stay here and thrive making the most of economic changes and investments but only when they are free of violence in their homes.
Eva Women's Aid aims to:
- To relieve distress and suffering among women who have been ill treated by their partners, co habitees, husbands or fathers of their children and to assist them affected by such maltreatment
