Arts for Health Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

A charity that works across Cornwall and Isles of Scilly to improve health and well-being through creativity and the arts.

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to improve health and well-being through creativity. The use of the arts in improving the healthcare environment has long been recognized, but creative activity has also been shown to increase self-esteem, provide a sense of purpose, develop social skills, help community integration and improve an individual’s quality of life. We work with children and young people at risk or disadvantage, with adults with mental health problems and physical or learning disabilities, older people, especially those with long term health conditions such as dementia or neurological conditions and on health inequalities, working with homeless people and others at risk.
    Our aims are:
    • To promote the role of the arts in improving health and well-being
    • To promote physical, mental and emotional health and well-being through the use of the arts in all their forms
    • To work in partnership with arts and health practitioners and organisations to improve health and well being through creative means
    • To raise awareness and understanding of health issues through creative means
    • To create a robust organisation which can be active in the following areas:
