Arts Alive in Shropshire and Herefordshire

Arts Alive and Flicks in the Sticks works with over 500 volunteers to organise nearly 1000 events a year; live performances, films and live satellite screenings.

Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

To bring the best in music, theatre, dance, film and live satellite screenings to rural communities within Shropshire and Herefordshire and surrounding counties. Events are crucial in keeping villages alive and cohesive at a time when many are under threat from closure of schools, post offices and other village services. Flicks in the Sticks is a pioneering touring cinema service touring over 800 films a year. Access to culture, especially culture from different countries is especially important in what is a fairly mono cultural area.

  • Aims

Arts Alive in Shropshire and Herefordshire aims to:

    • To give people in rural areas access to high quality cultural events, from theatre, dance, film and live satellite screenings.
    • To bring the sense of community back into rural communities. Our events brings villages and communities together at a time when lots of local services are under threat.
