Newent Association for the Disabled

Our organisation is for physically disabled of all ages and older people. We offer a day centre for social/recreational activities and assisted bathing facilities as well as community transport.

Founded 1981

  • Mission statement

Our charity was originally set up in 1981 for physically disabled people of any age. Through the years this has been widened to include some mental health disablities too.
The organisation offers day care recreational services and/or assisted bathing to any disabled or older person within our locality. We have well trained carers on site to meet the needs of our members. We provide social activities and other such means as the charity may determine in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the condition of life of our users.

We also offer a transport service which covers approximately a 15 mile radius from our Centre. This takes housebound, elderly and /or those without transport to destinations such as health centres, dentists, hospitals, shopping areas and/or on social visits. We also offer attendants who willingly shop with or for the user and who will also assist wheelchair passengers.

Our Community transport is just that - assisting those in the community without regular use of their own transport to be able to use our minibuses to travel to whatever destination they choose on one of our scheduled routes.
