Young Citizens

Young Citizens is an education charity working in primary and secondary schools to help educate, inspire and motivate the active citizens of tomorrow.

Founded 1989

  • Mission statement

Young Citizens helps young people become active, engaged and motivated citizens, who are able to contribute positively to their communities – whether those communities are local, national or global.

We believe that by helping young people play a full part in their communities, we can help strengthen democratic society. At a time when so many of our democratic institutions are under threat, our work is more important than ever.

Our projects range from mock trials, where young people learn about the legal justice system, to our Make a Difference Challenge, where children take action on social issues they care most about, to providing teaching resources for schools. All of our work has a single aim: to help young people be active citizens for life.

  • Aims

    Young Citizens aims to:

    • Help create a fair and inclusive society based on a strong and secure democracy.
    • Enable a greater number of young citizens to participate actively in society.
    • Equip children and young people to make a positive difference to the society in which they live – locally, nationally and globally.
