Oglander Roman Trust

The Oglander Roman Trust was created to preserve, protect and improve the heritage site of Brading Roman Villa on the Isle of Wight. The site is an Ancient Scheduled Monument with a grade 1 listed building set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Villa is an example of a 3rd century maritime courtyard villa with some of the finest in situ mosaics in Northern Europe. The site was originally excavated in Victorian times and has been open to the public ever since. The mosaics now have their own award winning, environmentally sensitive cover building with an adjacent visitor centre, all set in 60 acres.
The Trust aims to embark on an exciting, major new programme of further archaeological excavation to involve the community with learning more of the previous inhabitants of the site and how they lived their lives.
