Camfed is an international non-profit organisation tackling poverty and inequality by supporting girls to go to school and succeed, and empowering young women to step up as leaders of change.
When you educate a girl in Africa, everything changes. Educating girls is widely recognised as the single most powerful weapon in the fight against poverty & HIV/AIDS. Since 1993, Camfed’s innovative education programmes in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi have directly supported over 1. 6 million students to attend primary and secondary school, and over 4 million children have benefited from an improved learning environment.
Camfed is a world-recognised and respected leader in the field of girls’ education in Africa, using a community-based, holistic approach to bring about change. The girls we support are selected by the community as being the most in need. We don’t just provide her with books or school fees. We help her throughout her development, from her primary school years until adulthood. Our package allows her to get into school, do well academically, and maximize the value of her education after graduation.
