Fauna & Flora International (FFI)

Fauna & Flora International is a proven conservation innovator that continues to make a lasting impact on global biodiversity.

Founded 1903

  • Mission statement

    FFI’s vision -
A sustainable future for the planet, where biodiversity is effectively conserved by the people who live closest to it, supported by the global community.

    FFI’s mission -
To conserve threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs.

FFI tackles threats to biodiversity and addresses climate change by safeguarding threatened ecosystems, habitats and species together with the communities who rely on them. Founded in 1903, FFI was the world’s first international conservation organisation. Today FFI works in over 40 countries mainly in the developing world, saving species from extinction and habitats from destruction, whilst improving the livelihoods of local people.

  • Aims

Fauna & Flora International (FFI) aims to:

    • To help others deliver conservation gains. We believe that conservation is best owned and delivered by those living closest to the species and habitats concerned.
    • To address the root causes of biodiversity loss. FFI recognises that as an organisation it needs to be proactive in addressing threats to habitats and species.
    • To secure the future of key threatened habitats and species. FFI recognises habitat change (including climate driven habitat change) as the major threat to the integrity of both habitats and species.
