The British Dental Health Foundation

The British Dental Health Foundation is the UK’s leading independent oral health charity. It is the only organisation in the UK to be completely dedicated to providing free and impartial dental advice to the public.

The Foundation provides a range of services to the public, a synopsis of which follows,

Website – this is a unique repository of important, independent, relevant and clinically accurate information that may be accessed by anyone, free of charge. It is visited by more than 1000 people per day.

Dental Helpline – This free service provides members of the public with information on everything from toothache to dental fees and cosmetic options. Almost 40,000 enquires a year are received by telephone, email and letter.

Media Activity – As the leading independent dental advice body the Foundation has excelled on its role of speaking in the public interest on dental matters in the media. In the last year alone articles generated by the Foundation had a circulation of 171 million.

Political Activity – The Foundation campaigns for better health through political activity and over the last year our support of the Children’s Food Bill impacted on new Ofcom regulations for children’s advertising.

Awareness Campaigns – The Foundation organises two campaigns within the year, Mouth Cancer Awareness Week and National Smile Month. National Smile Month has been running for more than 30 years and is the biggest independent oral health event in Europe.

We have a track record of growth and success rigidly maintaining at its core the original charitable objective and mission ‘To improve Dental Health’, principally by education and prevention.
