Charity information

RSPCA Chesterfield & North Derbyshire Branch

Did you know that most of the local RSPCA Animal Centres are totally self funding and in spite of the charity's excellent work we receive no government or lottery funding or assistance, obtaining grants is very difficult as there are many funders who do not support animal charities.

Our main aim is to take in unwanted animals, find them loving, lasting, permanent homes. This is never easy as dogs usually come to us long after behaviour problems have started, we work very hard to re train them, give them lots of TLC and turn them into pets you would want to take home.

We support the RSPCA inspectors by taking in their cruelty cases, abandoned animals that are terrified, we look after them whilst cases are pending.

The entire Centre’s running costs, including staff wages must be met by raising funds locally. We rely on volunteers very heavily who support us in many ways, by helping with the animals or shaking a tin on flag days. Somehow we make 1 penny stretch into 10 pennies but we never compromise on animal welfare. Without the help of our volunteers the Centre would not be here.
