Founded 1986

  • Mission statement

    Mission statement:
    Serving the Community
    Supporting Financial Inclusion
    Protecting the Environment

Aim: to provide furniture and electrical goods to those on proven low income or in conditions of need.
Over 5000 individuals, or over 2000 households, are supported each year and donated items are collected without charge from around 1200 households.
The Scheme is managed and run by volunteers and three part-time staff.
We are currently supported in part by Stevenage Borough Council with 'In Kind' rent on our premises.
Increasing demand means that we need to maintain our service and extend our service.
We are currently maintaining our service but only because of unsustainable cuts. To survive we need to expand into a workshop providing skills for those out of work or not in education, which will produce saleable items to the general public in support of our various charitable aims.
We now have interest from 4 local charities as partner organizations in a joint project which has the potential to sustain itself though income generation. It will also provide skills training, volunteering opportunities and support for small charities. To achieve this we need help to find a suitable workshop with offices and training rooms and help (maybe one off) with IT, Finance, Marketing etc.
We are a group of experienced people working in and/or supporting community projects fully committed to this project.
Please contact me for more information.
    Thank you, Faye Lloyd
