The Kids' Cookery School

The Kids’ Cookery School (KCS) is a registered charity giving children and young people the skills and knowledge needed to make healthy food choices for themselves; KCS empowers children, young people and families so that they can look forward to a healthier future. We teach students how to prepare and cook healthy fresh food from scratch, using fresh ingredients and with an emphasis on reducing fat, sugar and using no salt.

Founded 1998

  • Mission statement

The Kids’ Cookery School (KCS) is a unique cookery school for children and young people aged 3-16. At KCS, students learn to prepare healthy and delicious meals from scratch using fresh ingredients, in an environment which is fun, safe and educational.

KCS welcomes students who have physical, learning or behavioural special needs.
Our charitable status enables KCS to offer practical cookery lessons to students who are disadvantaged by social or economic circumstances.

  • Aims

The Kids' Cookery School aims to:

    • KCS provides children and young people with the skills and knowledge needed to make healthy food choices for themselves.
    • KCS teaches students how to prepare and cook healthy fresh food from scratch, using fresh ingredients and with an emphasis on reducing fat, sugar and using no salt.
    • KCS specialises in working with students who have been socially excluded, excluded from mainstream education and those with special needs and behavioural problems.
    • KSC is also mobile, so we can reach out to more students, serve the most deprived areas in the UK and give those the opportunity to cook, who would not usually have access to this experience.
