Retina UK

Retina UK is the only UK charity which specialises in funding pioneering research into inherited retinal conditions and providing support for those affected. These conditions cause progressive sight loss and there are currently no effective treatments.

Founded 1976

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to stimulate and support high quality medical research with the aim of increasing scientific understanding of inherited sight loss, and finding treatments that will be accessible to all affected.

We also seek to identify or provide good quality and universally-accessible information and support services for people affected.

We aspire to a world in which people with RP will have access to treatments and will not lose their sight.

  • Aims

    Retina UK aims to:

    • To provide (or signpost) high quality information and support services to people and families faced with sight loss as a result of inherited retinal dystrophies.
    • To improve scientific understanding of, and progress the search for a treatment for, retinitis pigmentosa and related retinal dystrophies, in order that people affected will not lose their sight.
