The Laura Centre

Our vision is a culture of compassion for all bereaved families.
We work with bereaved adults who have been affected by the loss of a child and with children and young people who have been affected by bereavement We believe that support of the bereaved should ultimately come from the community. Our role is to offer professional support when it is needed but to also help empower the community to offer support.
We aim to do this through one-to-one and group therapeutic support , training, research, consultancy and supervision as well as offering access to a range of resources. . The support we offer is tailored to what is appropriate to the individual. Loss of a child is a catastrophic bereavement to which we respond in many different ways. Sometimes we just need a safe accepting space and to know that others have had similar feelings but sometimes more intensive psychological support is needed. When a child or young person is bereaved the right amount of support at the right time for both them and their parents can help them to deal with the imact of the loss on their lives both now and in the future
Our service was founded in 1991 by two bereaved parents , Gail and Harry Moore and the Centre is named after their duaghter, Laura. All our clinical services are free and non time limited
