Improving children's mental health in Kirklees, West Yorkshire

Founded 1963

  • Mission statement

Northorpe Hall Trust's purpose is to sustain and develop the mental and emotional well-being and resilience of children and young people in Kirklees, West Yorkshire, so they can enjoy their lives and reach their full potential. We believe confident and happy young people are a positive influence on the social, cultural and economic life of their communities.

We work particularly with those facing difficulties or challenges which put their mental and emotional well-being at risk. This could be due to bereavement, experience of violence and abuse, or family break up. It could also be that poverty, crime, disability or mental ill-health in their family is a contribution.

Specifically, we aim to help those we work with to develop their mental well-being and emotional literacy, self esteem, competence and the ability to understand and manage themselves and their relationships. As well as being open to all, we have a specific programme for young carers - children and young people in a caring role at home.

We work directly with children and young people, providing therapy and counselling, advice and activities, family support work, and training and supporting volunteers to be mentors. Mentors. All services are open to referrals from parents/carers.

  • Aims
