  • Mission statement

One in five people now experience problems of stress, anxiety or trauma at any one time. Two million people suffer from work-related ill health. Half of people with common mental health problems had to take time off work.

Stress depression and trauma impact heavily on families and children. Mental health problems often prevent parents from working, Family income falls. Poverty reinforces mental health problems and drags families into despair. For some - single parents, refugee families, ex--offenders - mental health problems are a huge barrier to their capacity to cope with with everyday life - at home, in the woprkplace, in the community.

The Bridge Foundation for Psychotherapy and the Arts offers preventative counselling to children, families, and individuals. Free services - for which more funding is absolutely crucial - are targetted on the most disadvantaged communities in the city, with outreach services offered from a range of outlets across the inner city.
