The Living Rainforest / Trust for Sustainable Living

The Living Rainforest is an educational charity that uses rainforest ecology as a metaphor for communicating sustainability issues to public and specialist audiences. The charity's visitor centre offers a unique rainforest experience with over 600 plant and animal species, including rare and endangered species of global biodiversity value. The visitor centre attracts over 75,000 visitors (including 17,000-plus children on school tours) and over 100,000 web visitors a year.

TLR is committed to creating a place for adults and children to explore modern issues of culture and ecology, ranging from the global to the local and from rainforests to other challenges of sustainability closer to home. Building on a £3. 5m capital regeneration project, the charity opened its state-of-the-art Human Impact Building in 2006 and plans to complete construction of the 'greenest greenhouse in Europe' in 2008 assuming that final matching funds are raised.
