APT Action on Poverty
APT Action on Poverty
APT transforms the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable people in Africa and South Asia by giving them the skills and knowledge to earn a livelihood and provide for their children.
APT's mission is to promote economic empowerment and social change by helping the most vulnerable and disadvantaged achieve sustainable livelihoods and by addressing the barriers that limit their participation.
We do this by supporting the efforts of local partners to implement a range of projects to empower the most disadvantaged both economically and socially. We also build the capacity of local partners to develop their organisations and share the learning from our work for wider application and impact.
APT has supported over 160 projects in 30 countries of Africa and Asia, helping thousands of people and building the capacity of project partners, local authorities, trade associations and self-help groups to become more effective.
By developing partnerships with organisations specifically targeting or representing marginalised groups such as women, people living with HIV/AIDS, disabled people, and people living in post-trauma/conflict situations, APT has acquired a deep understanding of issues facing different social groups in establishing sustainable livelihoods. Critically, we also recognise the need for our support to be tailored to meet market demand – helping people to access bigger and sustainable livelihoods.
APT Action on Poverty aims to:
- To increase the capacity of our local partners.
- To increase the impact of our work.
- To increase the organisational stability of APT.
