Karis Neighbour Scheme

Karis Neighbour Scheme is a small community charity working in inner-city Birmingham to help support people in need, offering friendship and practical support.

Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

Karis Neighbour Scheme seeks to offer practical support, friendship and advocacy in the local community through volunteers. We aim to promote community links and address needs unmet by other organisations. We seek to work in partnership with other groups and organisations, where possible, to offer a network of support.

We currently work across the Ladywood, Edgbaston and Harborne areas of Birmingham with a broad cross section of the community. Much of the support we offer is open to everyone in the community however, the groups we are working with the most are children & families, asylum seekers, refugees and the elderly.

  • Aims

    Karis Neighbour Scheme aims to:

    • Providing practical help such as advocacy & advice, help with jobs around the home like gardening or decorating and crisis support including food parcels
    • Offering friendship and support to people who are isolated or marginalised in the community, particularly older people
    • Helping to build a strong and thriving community, building community links and encouraging & supporting residents to bring about positive changes in their local neighbourhoods
