The National Maritime Museum Cornwall was set up in 2002 and it's focus is on small boats and the role they play in people's lives as well as cornish maritime heritage.

  • Mission statement

    To promote an understanding of small boats and their place in people's lives, and the maritime heritage of Cornwall.

    The Museum houses the National Small Boat Collection from the National Maritime Museum (Greenwich) as well as objects, paintings and archives from the former Cornwall Maritime Museum and objects in its own possession. The Museum has a range of galleries dedicated to Cornish maritime heritage as well as galleries portraying the history of small boats throughout the generations.

    • To ensure that the collections inspire and challenge and that there are always new and exciting displays
    • To preserve our maritime heritage for future generations through a comprehensive education programme, exhibitions, talks and lectures and the collection of relevant objects
