Disability Essex helps disabled people live independent lives by providing support and information on housing, benefits, education, training, volunteering, cultural and leisure activities locally.
Disability Essex is a registered charity aiming to promote equality of rights and obligations throughout society. It was set up in 1947 to enable people with any disability to control their own lives and enjoy to the full the opportunities which society, the economy and the environment provide. Its objectives are to relieve people living with disabilities, and their carers, by: facilitating independent living in the community, including social life and recreation; providing services which contribute to the quality of life and well being of disabled people; encouraging and supporting the establishment and running of groups and clubs set up for, and/or run by, disabled people for the purpose of promoting the interests of disabled people; working with other bodies in working for and promoting interests of disabled people in Essex and other parts of Eastern England.
Disability Essex currently helps over 15,000 people each year. We continuously strive to find new ways to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities of all ages vulnerable to social exclusion and poverty. Our work is driven by the needs of the people we help, ensuring we are always providing services that make a real difference to our beneficiaries lives.
