Environmental Justice Foundation

At EJF’s core is a simple but powerful belief: we all depend on the natural environment for our livelihoods and well-being, and that environmental security is a basic human right.

We’re working with, and for, those on the frontlines of environmental destruction to investigate, document and expose environmental and human rights abuses.

We take local fights to the very heart of governments and business across the world to secure lasting, global change.

Founded 2001

  • Mission statement

Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is working to secure a world where natural habitats and environments can sustain, and be sustained by, the communities that depend upon them for their basic needs and livelihoods.

Through our work we protect the natural environment, and the people and wildlife that depend upon it, by linking environmental security and human rights.

We create and implement solutions where they are needed most – training local people and communities who are directly affected by environmental degradation to combat poor environmental practices and associated human rights abuses.

We lobby decision makers using reports and film footage taken on the frontlines of environmental destruction, facilitating public and political platforms for constructive and lasting change.

  • Aims

    Environmental Justice Foundation aims to:

    • Protect human rights in the face of climate change, by securing international agreement for the protection of 'climate refugees' and giving a voice to the most vulnerable global communities.
    • Save the sea and protect our oceans, by ending illegal fishing and seafood slavery.
    • End environmental and human rights abuses in global cotton production and support organic cotton.
