Tashi Lhunpo Monastery UK Trust

Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in South India is now home to over 300 Buddhist monks between the ages of 6 and 97, who follow a pattern of study which can only be achieved in exile. Without the natural support base provided by their families in their home city of Shigatse in Central Tibet, the monks rely more and more on the outside world to allow them to continue their study of philosophy, which they undertake for the benefit of all sentient beings.

The Tashi Lhunpo Monastery UK Trust was formed to develop awareness of the unique culture of Tibet, and organises artistic tours, educational workshops and cultural exchanges so that the monks' wisdom can be shared with a wider world. In addition, the Trust raises funds to maintain and improve the monks' living conditions in the Tibetan settlement in India.
