Making The Leap
Making The Leap
We improve the lives of children and young people aged 11 to 25 from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds across London by raising their aspirations and increasing their access to opportunities. We run careers and employability programmes for children within secondary schools and for young people from our training centre, to develop the skills to succeed in education, work and in life. We also help young people to progress forwards into career roles as well as further education.
Our mission is to develop the skills, confidence and outlook of young people from poorer backgrounds so that they can succeed in their chosen career.
We believe that there should be opportunities available for all young people and that they all should develop the skills and mind-set that will lift them out of poverty. We empower young people to believe in themselves whilst providing them with the tools to overcome their circumstances and fulfil their potential.
Last year we supported 5655 children and young people across London through our programmes. 89% of school children who participated in our programmes last year said that as a result, they felt more prepared for the working environment. Currently, 70% of the young people who attend our programmes progress forwards into employment, further education or training within 6 months.
Making The Leap aims to:
- Our aim is to give children and young people from poorer backgrounds the same opportunities to succeed in their career as those from wealthier families.
