  • Mission statement

Birmingham Royal Ballet is internationally renowned as a classical ballet company dedicated to the highest aspirations for the art-form. The Company has a rich history of iconic artistic leadership including Dame Ninette De Valois, Sir Peter Wright and David Bintley CBE.

The Company is synonymous with the heritage of the English Ballet tradition as well as advancing the art-form through the creation of new works rooted in the classical ballet style. We have an enviable track-record in creating new ballets, most recently The Prince of the Pagodas, which successfully toured the UK in Spring 2014. Over the last 20 years the Company has created 30 entirely new ballets of which 8 have been full length classical ballets.

Throughout its history Birmingham Royal Ballet has, and continues to, play the major role in building and sustaining today's ballet audiences through creating new work and ensuring that people, wherever they live in the UK, have affordable opportunities to enjoy ballet performed to the highest standards.

Working collaboratively with local authorities, Birmingham Royal Ballet delivers meaningful dance experiences to 13,000 young people, teachers and young adults with learning disabilities per year, regardless of their social or economic circumstances. Stimulating creativity and encouraging physical fitness, our education and community projects enrich people's lives through sharing the ballet experience.
