Women in Sport
Women in Sport
Women in Sport is the national charity working to transform sport for the benefit of every woman and girl in the UK. We champion the right of every woman and girl to take part in, and benefit from, sport: from the field of play to the boardroom, from early years and throughout her life.
Women in Sport wants to see more women playing sport: In the UK there are 1. 55 million fewer women than men playing sport every week, which means women are missing out on all the benefits sport can bring.
Women in Sport wants to see more women leading, working and volunteering in sport: Research clearly shows that organisations perform better when they have more diverse leadership. We want the sport sector to be successful and increasing the number of women in leadership roles will help achieve this.
Women in Sport wants greater visibility for women's sport: We want women's sport to be broadcast and reported on as much as men's sport, and we want to see girls playing sport as normal so that it becomes something every young girl naturally wants to try. Sadly, Women in Sport's research shows we have a lot of work to do to achieve this.
Women in Sport aims to:
- Women in Sport's insight and expertise continues to evolve and is used to educate for the benefit of women and girls.
- Girls have greater access to sport, both at school and in the community.
- Sport's future female leaders increase in number and flourish with support.
- Sexism at all levels of sport is highlighted and challenged.
