  • Mission statement

The Women's Sport and Fitness Foundation works to create a society where physical activity is an integral part of every woman’s life. Where the majority of girls are active at school, and female athletes are celebrated as much as men.

Being active gives us energy. Being active gives us confidence. Being active helps us achieve our personal best. Being active can be social and fun. Being active helps us stay all round healthy. And being active can inspire others to do the same.

But currently, women and girls are losing out. Women’s participation in sport and fitness is currently in decline. Only one in five British women takes the required amount of weekly exercise. British women are now the most obese in Europe. Young women leave school half as active as men.

The continued cycle of inactive women in the UK has huge underestimated impact upon the health, social and economic prosperity of the country.
