Founded 2012

  • Mission statement

The Peace of Mind Project exists to make the benefits of meditation more widely available. We aim to convey the practice of meditation in a warm, accessible way, welcoming people from any faith background or none. We offer skilled, friendly meditation training for the benefit of all. In particular we reach out to support combat veterans, homecoming Service personnel and their families, whose lives have been affected by war. We are committed to helping people find a way to experience peace of mind and well-being.

We keep up-to-date with research into the benefits of meditation and Mindfulness-based practices. We hope our work will contribute something of value to this field. We aim to offer an effective alternative and supplement to medical drug-based interventions, helping people to regain self-confidence and to unlearn habits that can cause stress and even despair.

We make meditation training available in both residential and non-residential formats. Our events are designed to give people direct experience of the potential of meditation: being in a calm, kind and reflective state of mind, in community with others.

We feel that healing can take place when the individual is able to turn towards their experiences with kindness and a sense of being supported and valued by others. Therefore we aim to build a sense of community that includes families and civilians together with veterans. We want to help those to whom we all owe a great debt to move on in their lives.
