Corali is a performing arts charity based in Lambeth, for people with learning disabilities that provides public performance opportunities and shares its work through education and outreach.
Corali is about providing skills for people with learning disabilities so that they can be creative, work with other people and understand more about dance and performance.
Corali aims to enable those with learning disabilities to take part in a professional dance company and express and develop their artistic talents through the creation of public performances and to share its excellence to a wide public audience through performances, education and outreach. Corali does this by creating at least one touring dance work a year and by offering education and outreach in schools, special schools, art galleries, and other settings. Corali also offers ongoing training for its dancers to enhance their self worth, aspirations and life choices. Corali is based in Lambeth in South London and most of its work takes place in Lambeth and Southwark, although it does undertake London wide and UK projects. Corali is also known for its for its partnerships with high profile venues such as Tate Modern. Whitechapel Art Gallery and Sadler’s Wells Theatre.
Corali Dance Company aims to:
- To increase employment prospects for artists with learning disabilities and arts-administrators by offering appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
- To promote inclusion and cultural integration by enabling collaboration between disabled and non disabled people, groups and artists
- To enhance the self worth, aspirations and life choices of those with learning disabilities by provdiding social and physical skills through participation in dance activities.
- To enable adults with learning disabilities to participate in and contribute to cultural activities in London by providing the opportunity to take part in a professional dance company.
