Mission statement
Without a wheelchair, millions of disabled people in the developing world can’t leave their homes, go to school or to work. Many are left to lie on the floor. Many more die from preventable complications. Most live in extreme poverty.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Motivation's wheelchairs and services are creating a fairer society where everyone has the freedom to live, love, work and play.
Wheelchairs are at the heart of our work – but not just any wheelchair - it’s the right wheelchair, in the right way that can truly transform a life.
Our unique wheelchairs are designed for the challenging environments found in developing countries and, because one size doesn’t fit all, each wheelchair is individually fitted by a trained professional.
But the right wheelchair is just the start. To really put the wheels in motion, we give disabled people the training and support they need to be healthy, confident and included in society. And they’re not the only ones to benefit; families, communities, even economies feel the positive change. -
Aims
Motivation aims to:
- Design and manufacture specialist wheelchairs and mobility products that are fitted to each individual and robust enough to withstand the environment in which they live.
- Increase the confidence and independence of disabled people through practical training and support in healthy living, wheelchair skills, disability rights, and income generation.
- Work with communities and governments to tackle the stigma and discrimination that prevents disabled people from being included in education and employment.
