Easton Community Children's Centre

The Centre provides childcare and family support services for disadvantaged children and families living in inner city Bristol. The organisation is OFSTED approved and a registered charity with children and parents/carers at the heart of it. It was set up in a porta-cabin in 1985 by a group of local parents who needed good, reliable childcare so that they could work or study. Parents/carers continue to have a strong voice both on the Board of Trustees and in the day-to-day decision-making.

The organisation has evolved over the years in direct response to needs identified by local families and is now based in a purpose built building sharing a site with The City Academy Bristol. As well as providing excellent childcare and family support services, staff work closely with others to promote and support the development of high quality, accessible and community-responsive services for families.

In 2006 the Centre was described in it's OFSTED inspection and subsequent report as being: ” a vibrant, enriching multicultural environment” where “staff have thorough understanding of each child and have various ways of making them feel valued and special. ”
