  • Mission statement

The Heart Research Institute's mission is to prevent death and suffering from heart disease through understanding the biological processes that cause atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis (also known as 'thickening of the arteries') is a blood vessel disease that is a major cause of heart attack and stroke.

The Heart Research Institute has 3 core objectives:
    • To detect heart disease at an early stage before it leads to clinical problems.
    • To develop new treatments which can reverse the development of the disease.
    • To prevent individuals developing heart disease in the future.

Through our research,The Heart Research Institute has made significant findings that have changed the way we live with and treat heart disease. Our scientists are working across a field of research areas to identify factors which contribute to an increased risk of heart disease. Visit www. Hriuk. Org

  • Aims

The Heart Research Institute (UK) aims to:

    • To develop new treatments which can reverse the development of heart disease. We are developing new synthetic vessels built from human proteins that help vessels to resist blood clots and blockages.
    • To detect heart disease at an early stage before it leads to clinical problems. We are working on simple diagnostic tests that can find heart disease in its earliest form. This will save lives!
    • To prevent individuals developing heart disease in the future. We have found a way to identify the 1 in 3 patients at risk of heart damage after having simple procedures to unclog blocked arteries.
