Iranian And Kurdish Women's Rights Organisation

IKWRO provides advice, advocacy and counselling to Middle Eastern women and girls (Iranian, Kurdish, Arab, Afghan and Turkish) who are facing DV, ‘honour’ based violence, forced marriage and FGM.

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

IKWRO's mission is to protect Middle Eastern and Afghan women and girls who are at risk of domestic violence, forced marriage, female genital mutilation and 'honour' based violence. IKWRO also promotes women's rights by providing training and awareness raising events for the communities and campaigns for better laws and legislation to ensure safety of women and girls. In addition to providing direct services for women and girls, we advise and support professionals from bodies such as the police, social services or schools to help them meet the needs of women and girls. We also provide professional training for these bodies to help them understand the issues affecting minority ethnic women, and run advocacy campaigns to push for better laws and policies to protect women’s rights.
