Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal

We are a small, local charity raising funds to support projects at three major hospitals. Now 10 years old we have raised, and given away, in excess of £1. 4m through hard work and a lot of fun!

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

“The relief of sickness and the preservation and protection of health of those persons who have suffered, or are suffering from, breast cancer by the provision of grants as the Trustees see fit”

Almost everyone associated with Crazy Hats has experienced breast cancer in one form or another, whether it be personal or knowing someone who has it, or has had it. Therefore, with all our experiences we understand what others have to contend with. What started as a fun Crazy Hats Day in schools ten years ago, raising over £20,000 (in one day! ) the charity has grown beyond belief and we are now fast approaching the £1. 5 million mark. We raise funds through a wide variety of means; our biggest fundraiser being an annual walk in one of our local theme parks, attracting 3,000 people (all wearing crazy hats) and bringing in,on average, £50k. We organise many other different events.

In disposing of our funds we work hand-in-hand with our local consultants and breast care/oncology teams at each hospital to discuss and agree projects that will improve their services, thus enhancing breast cancer care in general and locally. It is the word ‘local’ that is very significant. We have an excellent following and have great fun in all we do, meeting wonderful people and working very hard – our motto being ‘together we CAN make a difference! ’

We have an office sited in the middle of an industrial estate. It is not perfect but it is our home. Everyone who visits is assured a very warm welcome.
