The Assembly Rooms are owned by the community and run by volunteers to be the hub of the remote village of 1200 people, meeting diverse needs of entertainment, education and socialisation.

  • Mission statement

    The Rooms were donated to the parishioners of St Briavels almost a century ago. They consist of a main hall and recreation, meeting and reading rooms. The mission of the Rooms is to provide a focal point for the village, meeting needs identified in the Parish Plan and in extensive consultation carried out by the Trustees They are self-funding, being financed by hire income from user groups and running fund-raising events such as concerts, quiz nights and a regular local produce market. The Rooms are open to everyone every day without charge to individuals, unless hiring clubs and societies make a charge to members. A wide range of activities takes place, including the People's choir, art, pre-school, dance, table tennis, yoga and pilates groups, a pudding club and garden and music societies. The Rooms are also available for hire for private functions, are used for Parish Council meetings and for consultation meetings on topics such as wind farms and are the Polling Station of the village.
