  • Mission statement

Artistic Need to support up-&-coming opera singers. Public Benefit with a fresh outlook on opera. However beautiful an opera singer’s voice may be, their career depends on how well they can convince an audience. We offer singers of all ages major roles in extensive tours of classic operas with directors of international reputation, to give them early & broad professional experience. There is a large audience base that would love to see good opera, sung beautifully, if only they could find a way in. People want to go to opera without fear of encountering pomposity, high prices & boredom; to see a show that is entertaining & professionally performed, not a show that requires them to be dutiful. They want a memorable night out. We look at opera from the point of view of the audience, not of the opera company. Can audiences brought up on music theatre, Gilbert & Sullivan, pantomime & cabaret really enjoy classic opera? Can the marriage of trained voices & live instruments still work without electronic amplification? Can the music, the stories & the characters still have anything to say to us? Our audience tells us that the answer is definitely “yes”; that our small scale versions of "high culture" Grand Opera in English "thrill the clueless & yet still delight the connoisseur". Every venue we have visited (theatre, church, open air, pub or school) wants us back. Talent scouts from prestigious opera houses & festivals seek out our singers.
