The Separated Child Foundation

'Separated Child' offers emotional, social, financial & physical support to separated children & young people in Britain. It also engages in educational activities that raise awareness of their needs.

Founded 2007

  • Mission statement

The rights of all separated children entering or travelling through the United Kingdom should be acknowledged; they should be protected and their well-being and development should be promoted.

Everyone who lives in the United Kingdom should know what 'separated child' means and should understand separated children's needs; they should listen to their stories and help them to develop their full potential.

These are our guiding principles. We believe that every separated children and young person in the United Kingdom should:

be seen as a person first—rather than a migrant
have all their needs—physical, social, emotional and developmental—met
have those needs met in relation to each other and not in isolation
be listened to with respect and be involved in the provision of services to address their needs
have their experiences acknowledged and validated
be seen as a unique individual
have responsible and caring people to whom they may turn
receive accurate information, and appropriate advice, guidance and support throughout their time here
have opportunities to achieve their full potential
above all else, feel safe, secure and loved.

  • Aims
