E-quip Community Arts Project

Offering opportunities to people to access the performing arts and in doing so raise self esteem and build confidence.
Creatively communicating the Christian Faith through the arts

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

We seek to offer opportunities to people, who ordinarily would not get the chance to access the performing arts of drama, dance and music. We work mainly with, but not exclusively people from disadvantaged backgrounds opening up opportunities for them to express themselves and learn new skills. We want to enable grounded birds to fly by helping them spread their wings and realise their potential, even achieving their dreams.

We use the arts to build confidence in individuals, not just in performance related activities but to offer greater self confidence in all aspects of life. We want to raise individuals self esteem as well and help people to see what they can achieve with the skills and talents they have.

We also work to creatively communicate the Christian faith. We produce events and performances that use many different aspects of performance, such as music, acting, dance, writing and film making and the purpose in all of these is to communicate the Christian faith in fresh and relevant ways.

We stage large scale productions, such as the Southampton Passion n 2011 where 9,500 people came out to the centre of the city to witness a musical presentation of the Easter story. We work in a variety of contexts and always seek to produce high quality events that people can engage with and enjoy.
