PROVIDING AN ARCHIVE AND EXHIBITION OF LOCAL HISTORY ARTEFACTS, PHOTOGRAPHS, MAPS AND DOCUMENTS. THE HIRING OUT OF ROOMS TO LOCAL SOCIETIES AND CLUBS AND THE HOLDING OF FUND RAISING EVENTS FOR THE CHARITY.

    THE PROPERTY AND THE TRUST FUND AND ITS INCOME SHALL BE APPLIED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE INHABITANTS OF GALLEYWOOD AND THE SURROUNDING AREAS WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF SEX OR OF POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS BY ASSOCIATING TOGETHER INHABITANTS, LOCAL AUTHORITIES, VOLUNTARY AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS IN A COMMON EFFORT TO ADVANCE EDUCATION, IN PARTICULAR IN THE HERITAGE OF THE LOCAL AREA AND TO PROVIDE FACILITIES IN THE INTEREST OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR THE RECREATION AND LEISURE TIME OCCUPATION WITH THE
    OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE SAID INHABITANTS, WHICH SHALL INCLUDE THE MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF A HERITAGE AND COMMUNITY CENTRE IN GALLEYWOOD FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC.

  • Aims

    Galleywood Heritage Centre aims to:

    • Within in the extensive grounds provide facilities for the study of local flora and fauna found on the Galleywood Common and its environs, a rare example of Lowland Heathland.
    • The Trustees hold regular fund raising to enable further development of additional currently unused buildings, offering facilitates - Tea Room and public toilets for Galleywood common visitors.
    • To provide affordable events venue for family celebrations, parties and socials and corporate uses.
    • To provide facilities for hire to local clubs and societies for meetings, physical exercises and further education, such as languages, ITC, marshal arts, dance, music and theatre.
    • To provide archive and exhibition of collected local heritage and historical photographs, maps, documents and small artifacts, for private study and for the benefit of future generations.
