alzheimer's Support

Our aim is to improve the quality of life of those suffering from dementia together with their Carers and families.

Our organisation began in 1991 in response to a locally identified need for support for dementia sufferers and their Carers. At first we were only an information and support service but before long we began a home-based Relief Care Service with fully trained paid staff. Following this a Support Group for Carers was formed which still meets monthly in Trowbridge. We also have Support Groups in Warminster and Kennet.

Today as well as support groups meeting monthly in 4 towns and a home based Relief Care Service in West Wilts and Kennet, we have a five day a week Day Club at Polebarn House in Trowbridge, a Saturday Club at Grassacres in Westbury and a Sunday Club at The Park Club in Trowbridge.

From Spring 2008, Sidmouth Street in Devizes will be open, providing a range of services including a Day Club, Drop in service and information and advice. Alzheimer’s Support also funds a qualified counsellor to provide one to one support for Carers.

Alzheimer’s Support is committed to the provision of a range of flexible services which give people with dementia and their Carers real choice, whilst maintaining as much independence and control over their lives as possible.
