Heat Community Foundation

Volunteer run, the Heat Community Foundation (HCF), is a charity which uses basketball to deliver social programs to the community.

We help: disabled, disadvantaged and underprivileged people.

Founded 2009

  • Mission statement

The Heat Community Foundation (HCF) has a core belief that everyone should be offered an equal opportunity to participate in society.

Our purpose is to make a positive contribution to overcoming social problems faced by disabled, disadvantaged and underprivileged people. In all HCF programs, elements of basketball are used to reinforce and reinvigorate lifestyle messages and boost self-esteem and self-confidence

By working with other organisations, such as schools, clubs, charities and local authorities, we will provide programs designed to:
    • develop respect for others,
    • improve social skills
    • develop an awareness of the value of teamwork
    • bring an increased knowledge of healthy lifestyles, including the role of exercise, sport and excellence
    • increase the number of young people willing to act as role models
    • increase the chance of future employment by offering sport-related training and volunteering opportunities.
    • give young people a sense of purpose

Basketball is the third most played sport in the country and has a strong ethical code, an equal appeal to boys and girls, and has a proven track record in helping with social mixing and as a vehicle for delivering social programs to the community.

A relatively new charity, HCF supported programs are run by top basketball players and community coaches who act as role models and mentors to young people.

HCF Courses include Hoops 4 Health, Disability Challenger sessions and Junior Beginners basketball sessions.
