To encourage towns and cities, leisure and recreational facilities to form Shopmobility Schemes; to advise on the provision of facilities; and, to seek to improve those facilities.

  • Mission statement

    By supporting Shopmobility schemes NSFUK generates benefits to both schemes and users. These are defined as follows:

    For users

    • Enabling people with impaired mobility to engage or re-engage with their community and travel, with confidence, throughout the UK thus enhancing their quality of life, and providing them and their carers with independence;
    • Aiming to set uniform and trustworthy standards of safety and service for Shopmobility users, and encouraging good practice and consistency of approach;
    • Acting as a national network helping disabled and older people to travel with ease and enjoy shopping and leisure facilities around the UK;
    • Having the aim of equality of access for disabled and older people to all the UK’s main towns and city centres.

    For Schemes

    • Representing a network at national and regional levels, a powerful voice in the areas of town centre and economic regeneration, transport policies, tourism and access issues;
    • Providing expert information and advice, promoting good practice and efficiency in all areas of Shopmobility management, fundraising and service delivery – consequently helping schemes to focus maximum effort on service users;
    • Supporting schemes as they start up and encouraging them and existing schemes to review, develop and improve their services;
    • Offering a structure for service and policy development, to the network of schemes, that enables the best standards of practice to be achieved;

  • Aims

    National Federation Of Shopmobility UK aims to:

    • The positive development of the Shopmobility brand by encouraging towns/citiesand leisure/recreational facilities to form Shopmobility schemes and, usage by people with a mobility impairments;
    • Seeking to improve facilities for disabled people by maintaining close liaison with Local Authorities, Shopping Centres and other organisations to further these aims;
    • Providing advice in respect of changing legislation on disability and access issues and giving advice on the provision of facilities, in particular mobility equipment, to improve quality of lives;
    • Providing training for users of affiliated schemes and private users of mobility equipment to encourage consideration, safe usage and awareness;
    • Providing representation and response to Government consultations and promoting the development of Shopmobility schemes throughout the world.
