SWALLOW will fulfil its aim by: providing supported housing; giving the means by which people with learning disabilities can learn independent living skills; provide a range of courses to promote self confidence and the learning new skills (with a programme ranging from cookery to art, from football to swimming);and give the opportunity for people with learning disabilities to develop work skills through the Work Skills Enterprise Scheme.

  • Aims

SWALLOW - South West Action for Learning and Living Our Way aims to:

    • Reduce the social isolation often felt by people with learning disabilities through lack of confidence and ability. We organise social activities to involve all members of the community.
    • Allow people with learning disabilities to be healthy and active through the encouragement of sporting activities and healthy eating.
    • Give people with learning disabilities the confidence and skills to enter the world of work through placements or work experience. Our Work Skills Enterprise Scheme enables us to do this.
    • Support people with learning disabilities in living independent lives through supported housing.
    • Give people with learning disabilities the chance to express themselves and communicate through creative media (art and drama).
