Charity information

CURE UK is a Christian medical charity working to transform the lives of children with disabilities in the developing world through life-saving and life-changing operations.

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

CURE is dedicated to transforming the lives of physically disabled children in the developing world.

CURE provides operations and medical care free of charge to children who are born with conditions such as clubfoot, hydrocephalus ('water on the brain'), cleft lip and palate, crooked spines, burn contractures and the like.

Since the opening our first hospital in 1998 we have seen more than 1,850,000 patients. It is estimated that there are more than 100 million children in economically challenged countries who could be cured through an operation.

CURE has the hospital beds, the operating theatres and the world-class surgeons. With extra funds we can heal thousands more children to have hope for the future.

As well as providing first-world medical care to the developing world, we provide pastoral care to help heal patients from feelings of guilt, shame and rejection that their disability has left them with.

Self-sustainability is a fundamental element of our work. We train national doctors and nurses so that quality care can be accessible for future generations.

CURE incorporates a faith component in a culturally relevant and sensitive way. CURE hospitals will not turn away a patient due to an inability to pay, ethnic background or religious affiliation.

  • Aims

    CURE UK aims to:

    • To provide operations free of charge for children with orthopaedic, neurological and other physically disabling conditions.
    • To bring spiritual healing through our pastoral ministry. We aim to help our patients understand the medical reasons behind their disability and tell them of the God who loves them unconditionally.
    • To train medical professionals such as doctors, nurses and anaesthetists, to ensure the ongoing sustainability of our work and to improve the healthcare infrastructure of the countries we serve.
