A unique home support service for families - recruiting & training volunteers to support parents and their children in suituations such as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability

  • Mission statement

    We offer support for families who may be at risk of social exclusion: do not engage with other services; or are struggling with the emotional & physical demands of parenting. As a result we achieve a reduction in family isolation; strengthen parent & child relationships; improve parents emotional wellbeing; help parents appreciate the joys of parenting; increase awareness of healthy lifestyle choices. The volunteers are parents from a variety of backgrounds who undergo enhanced CRB checks, & complete an accredited preparation course before being matched with families, who they visit for 2-4 hours a week. Personalised programmes of support include holistic emotional/ practical home visiting; Enjoy & Achieve creating a positive attitude to play for the long term development of the child; New Mum's Chum volunteers provide daily reassurance during the first 3 months after birth; Feel Good Mum's helps ante & post natal mums affected by mental health problems; Starting Young aims to contribute to better health in later life by developing good habits in childhood; Community Garden encourages the family to learn about wildlife, growing fruit & vegetables, harvesting & cooking healthy meals; Ain't misbehaving provides one-to-one & group support to help children up to secondary school age, develop the skills to manage their own behaviour, & parents to set clear boundaries.

    Home-start South-west Lincolnshire aims to:

    • Reduce family isolation to increase social support networks, access training & participate in community activities
    • Improve parents physical, mental & emotional wellbeing to enable them to feel positive about their parenting skills to reinforce a positive family relationship
    • To enable parents deal with the many challenges of modern life & give their children the love & attention they need
