Mentor protects children from the harms caused by alcohol and drugs. We work with young people, parents, schools and local groups, inspiring young people through healthy, positive choices.

Founded 1998

  • Mission statement

We foster children’s ambition. We want every child to strive to make the most of their life, no matter what their background.
For the past 15 years, Mentor has been working throughout the UK with children and young people, parents, schools and youth groups. We’ve addressed inequalities, transforming the lives of children from all walks of life including young offenders and those from the most vulnerable families and impoverished areas.
Our projects, based on the best international scientific evidence, are helping to create a future generation of confident young men and women who equipped to thrive in the modern working environment, who are resilient and valuable members of society.
In today’s complex, ‘always on’ world, young people need sophisticated skills to negotiate risky situations. With the help of parents, schools and communities, we’re helping young people to acquire those skills so that young people can reject peer pressure and fashionable icons to make healthy, positive decisions about their wellbeing and future.
There’s a groundswell of opinion amongst the public and the politicians that we need to tackle social, economic, educational and health ills at root. Fixing things when they go wrong is not good enough. Prevention is way better than cure.
Mentor is the charity that parents, schools, media, MPs and their advisors all come to for advice and information around prevention
An investment in Mentor is an investment in your children and our future.
