DENS - Action Against Homelessness

DENS support those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Dacorum area of Hertfordshire, with a variety of services including a Foodbank, Night & Day Centres & a Rent Guarantee Scheme.

  • Mission statement

    DENS will deliver a set of services, ranging from initiatives for the prevention of homelessness, through to temporary accommodation, to resettlement into independent living, for single homeless people (18-65 yrs) in the Dacorum area.

    DENS will work in partnership with government, council and other agencies, acting as an independent hub to access services for homeless people in Dacorum.

    Specific Aims:
    •To improve clients' physical and mental health, self-esteem and social skills
    •To enable clients to reduce drug/alcohol misuse
    •To increase clients' knowledge of rights
    •To increase clients' independence
    •To improve clients' skills/education
    •To enable clients to access housing and maintain a tenancy
    •To support clients in independent living for the first six months
    •To reduce the negative impacts of homelessness on the local community (e. G. Crime, anti-social behaviour)

  • Aims

    DENS - Action Against Homelessness aims to:

    • To give practical support to homeless individuals or those at risk of homelessness by providing basic needs such as food, shelter and warmth.
    • To give homeless people the opportunity to make positive changes to their lives, to learn new skills and to build confidence, with the aim of ultimately moving into sustainable independent living.
