Plusme Positive About Change

To support people living with or affected by HIV going through difficult periods, coming to terms with their condition and other ongoing health challenges. Particular attention is given to support health and social care services.

Founded 2008

  • Mission statement

For people living with HIV to live independently and experience choice without facing stigma or discrimination.

Thanks to advances in treatment people with HIV are regaining years of lost life, despite the stigma and discrimination many people living with HIV still endure. Whilst we move forward to dispel the myths surrounding HIV, there still appears to be a lack of understanding relating to HIV in South Yorkshire. Feedback from service users, information stands and training sessions report back that HIV infection was unintended and unwanted.

HIV has often been compared to that of someone living with diabetes. “It is not”. It is a complex and sensitive issue influenced by culture, religion, poverty, deprivation and the wider structures of society.
